Tavolara Island

40° 53'.5 N 09° 40'.8 E  Tavolara Island, Sardinia

We have been granted one more nights grace before the wicked winds arrive so we floated on down to Tavolara Island. A limestone Stegosaurus jutting out of the sea. One half of the 5km long landmass is a no-go zone, restricted to NATO personal only.  It's also home to a fancy-pants transmitter which sends messages to submarines. Without doubt James Bond lives up there.

Tavolara was too exposed to the elements for us to sleep so we sailed to a little bay called Porto Brandinchi, cooked up a feast fit for two sailors, lay our heads down in the cockpit with a book and stayed there. The stars had a real glint in their eye tonight!
