Chateau Marcay

In the midst of the Loire Valley, with grand french houses lining the Loire River, you will find the little village of Chinon.

And just outside of Chinon, through the tree lined avenues, you will find Chateau Marcay.

If your 5 year old self drew a castle it would look like this right?

We were celebrating a family 25th wedding anniversary, so celebrate we did. Pink sparkles on the front lawn.

Then we made our way underground, 12 metres down the stone steps, to the wine cellars for a tour and wine tasting with the chateau’s house Sommelier Alex, who incidentally wore fantastically shiny brogues.

Followed by an evening in the dining room, sharing a lovely selection of french wines and culinary treats. I chose lobster to start, monkfish, and a rather delicious custard with sorbet to finish, well not quite to finish, as usual there was a family tussle for the petit four!
